I Can Tell Time was designed so that the privacy conversation with your district is short: there are no student accounts, no logins, and no cloud storage of student work. Progress lives on the iPad.
What the app collects, at a glance
- Optional learner name: collected only if typed into the app, and it stays on the device. Student emails and roster data are never collected.
- Education records: not received by us. Progress (lessons completed, streaks, stars) is stored locally and visible in the on-device Grown-ups zone.
- Diagnostics: anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage events, used only to keep the app reliable. Never used for advertising or to profile students.
- Advertising identifiers: none. There are no ads and no ad SDKs.
How that maps to the laws you care about
COPPA
The app is built for Apple’s Kids category: no behavioral advertising, no social features, no external links in the kids’ experience, and a parental gate in front of purchases and settings.
FERPA
Because we don’t receive education records, FERPA exposure is minimal by design. Where a district determines records are implicated, our DPA documents school-official obligations.
State student privacy laws
We sign state-specific agreements (including NY Ed Law §2-d) and publish Parents’ Bill of Rights supplemental information.
Who we are
I Can Tell Time is operated by BURLEIGH CREATIVE YAZILIM VE BILISIM HIZMETLERI LIMITED SIRKETI, a company registered in Türkiye. Because student personal data stays on the device and is never uploaded to us, no student records are stored offshore — or on any of our servers, in any country. Agreements with U.S. districts are executed under the district’s state law.
Notes for IT
- Deploys over MDM with volume purchasing through Apple School Manager.
- No accounts to provision, no passwords to reset, no rostering integration needed.
- Learning works offline; the app makes no connection requirements of your network beyond App Store installation.
- Shared iPad note: progress is per-device. For dedicated 1:1 devices, each student keeps their own progress naturally.
